The Child

The Child is a hand-carved marble sculpture, epitomizing Brancusi’s signature minimalist style and emotional depth. Acquired in 1948 by Romanian collector Niculae Teodorescu, it was hidden during World War II and the communist era to protect it from confiscation, enduring decades of secrecy. In 1991, the sculpture was brought to the United States, symbolizing its liberation after generations of careful preservation.
